New puppy won't eat or go to the bathroom
My boyfriend and I just adopted a thirteen week old miniature schnauzer. She's very playful and affectionate, but I'm worried she may be sick.

She barely ate anything for the first week, and drinks almost no water. She does usually poop twice a day, but she hardly ever pees. She averages once a day, but I've seen her go entire days without it.

My family adopted two of her litter mates, and we took her to play with them on Thursday. While she was there she wouldn't eat her own food, but would want to eat her brothers and sister's (we feed them the same brand).

She only wanted to eat or drink when they did, and she doesn't like treats unless she's sharing it with them. Even when she was eating and drinking with them she still wasn't peeing more than once a day.

Now that we're back home she doesn't want to eat again. She doesn't seem sick. She never whines, loves to run around outside, and sleeps through the night.

I'm really worried about her lack of urinating and appetite. Any advice.

She wouldn't pee if she doesn't drink. Her hebavior sounds like she is not in immediate danger but I'd get a vets read on this. Was she wormed or mediacted recently?

Sounds like she is having separation anxiety from her litter mates... lonely, depressed.
Could you bring another one home for a bit and see how she responds?

I agree that it sounds like separation anxiety, if she will happily eat or drink around her siblings but not at home I wouldn't imagine it being medical.

Have you tried offering puppy milk to her to encourage her to drink? You can buy it at pet stores or even some supermarkets, you can either feed it straight in small amounts (to avoid upset stomachs) or just put a dash in her water to tempt her into drinking.

As for food, you may have to play around with different brands or mixing other ingredients in with it. Soaking the dry food can make it more appealing or mixing a small amount of canned through it.

It is a scary, confusing time for a puppy, probably made harder by visiting her siblings, usually all contact is severed and the pup can adjust and get on with it's life. I would probably stop the visits until the pup has settled in properly.
