Whatsoever a man sows that shall he also reap??
I have heard that verse in Galatians preached for almost as long as I can remember. But what I need to know is... how that fits into grace? Is it taken out of context?

Is life about doing good and getting good, doing bad and getting bad. NONE of us deserve ANYTHING. Without the blood of Christ. I'm totally confused concerning this verse.

Heard a sermon today and wanted to throw tomatoes... was that simply my evil flesh... or perhaps I'm sick of the gospel of grace being tuned into rules.. THOU SHALT NOT... any thoughts.

We were also told that whoever lives by the sword, dies by the sword. I think these things are true in a general sense... not to be taken literally that everyone who lives violently will die as such and so on. Of course some preachers in certain faith movements have taken these things further than they were meant. As it's spoken in a somewhat general term, I'm not going to get picky about context. There is no time frame spoken of so at the very least we know there will be a time of judgement. The letter to the Galatians does refer to sowing in the flesh and the spirit... I'm comfortable taking this how we act in our life with the reaping coming after death. If we sow spiritual things - taking the time to invest in spiritual growth, in the end that is what we will reap. If we sow of the flesh - only seeking to live in the moment, seeking to satisfy our sinful desires... then that too is what we will reap. One way or another we will get our of this life what we put into it. Rest assured, nobody is getting away with anything and grace, mercy and forgiveness ultimately are in God's hands.

We do have grace if we have accepted Christ as our Savior, but it does not mean of course that on earth we will not get what punishment we get or deserve.
In the idea of after life, we are told about storing up treasure in heaven also, But of course the slum in heaven is better than the mansion in hell

God gives everyone the grace of faith. But faith must be exercised with good works in order to be made perfect and become a saving faith:
    James 2:22
Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

Is it taken out of context?
    No. Scripture teaches:
    Romans 6:16
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Therefore, he who serves sin, he will be condemned. He who works good, he will be rewarded:
    Romans 2:7
    King James Version (KJV)
7To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

Is life about doing good and getting good, doing bad and getting bad. NONE of us deserve ANYTHING. Without the blood of Christ. I'm totally confused concerning this verse.
Life is about obedience to Christ.
    Hebrews 5:9
    And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

Those who obey Christ will be saved. Those who disobey Christ will be condemned.

    Revelation 22:14
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.

    1 John 3:4
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

    Romans 2:13
(For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

    Sincerely,

    De Maria
