    There's nothing unhealthy about sex during your period. Washing with mild soap and water is all that is needed for hygiene. Menstrual tissue/blood does get smelly pretty quickly after exposure to air, that's all. It's not unsafe for either the man or woman.

    9 days is a little bit long for a period to last, but it may get shorter as you get older. There's no rule about when to conceive, although the 'middle of the month' is the most common. This can vary a lot depending on when the egg is released from the ovary, and then works it's way down the fallopian tube. A woman can measure her temperature to see when she is ovulating, and the man can do certain things to help his sperm, and he can have it tested too.
