    Under sink cutoff knob problems?
While attempting leaky faucet repair, I couldn't budge the cold water cutoff knob. When I finally broke it loose, it shot out completely, water gushing everywhere! I finally got it back in and leak stopped. The faucet works OK, but the knob is in the off position. When I turn the knob back toward the on position water gushes out around the valve, so now I can't use the cutoff. What's going on, and how do I fix this?

Til a plumber gets here, Shut off water to the house, loosen the nob, then tighten outer nut, then shut off valve, Then turn on outside supply while someone is there in case you have a leak.

billMciver re.sink cutoff valve problems: Dear helpers; Massplumbers and Stratmando thanks a lot for your input. I was able to get my sticky knob, broken --er unstuck with pliers & wrench, and the packing nut tightend to stop leaks. So it's working now as it should. And, I didn't even have to go out to the main in 100+ heat, or call a plumber! Again, Thanks a bunch guys!
