    Ford ezscort zx2 won't stay started.dies out?
    I have 2003 ford escort. The key turns over but it won't start or stay running.the brake lights were stuck but the switch was loose.fixed it. Got about a mile down the road now it won't start.

    . Check all under hood and under dash fuses with a test light or multimeter.

    . Check for spark.

    . Check for fuel.

I just changed the spark plugs, spark plug wires and fuel filter and my truck won't stay running. It'll run for a little while and just die. It will backfire occasionally and seems as if there is no fuel going to the engine.
