No hot water in shower and sink in one bathroom only?
We have had this house about a year. Water has worked without a hitch, until about 2 months ago. The spare bedroom, which is used very seldom, no longer has hot water coming out of the sink or shower/bath. Cold works fantastic, but neither sink or shower faucet or showerhead work on hot. It obviously isn't a faucet or showerhead problem. Please help!! (oh, and water heater is only 2 yrs old)

Start with the sink, get under the cabinet and close the stop for the cold water feed. Now open the faucet and move the handle back and forth from cold to hot a few times, what do you get?

Once I did that, the sink hot water now works. But what about the shower and tub? No change there, and how could I do the same for it?

Hi guys...
Tell us is this sink faucet a single handle faucet or a two handle faucet? We can tell you more after that, OK?

The sink and shower faucet are both single handles. Sink faucet now works hot and cold after closing the cold water valve under sink. Now what do I do with the shower/bath??

So you can now draw both hot and cold from this faucet with the valve closed under the sink, is that what you mean? This would be very unusual.

I think what lixnix is saying, Bob is that when he/she uses the single handle lever water comes out when he/she pushes the handle left or right... as you suggested, that would be VERY unusual... ;)
Lixnix, when you shut the cold water shutoff at the sink, did you check the hot and cold water at the shower? If not, shut the cold shutoff at the sink again and turn the shower on to hot water and see if you get hot water (give it a couple minutes to flow right).
If you get hot (and cold) water at the shower while the cold shutoff is shut under the sink then I suspect that the mixing cartridge has failed in the single lever sink faucet and will need to be replaced.
Here, I can't be 100% sure as we cannot isolate the shower to test it (can we? Do you have shutoffs at the shower?), but the easiest place to start is the sink anyway... just replace the entire mixing cartridge and that should resolve everything. If that fails to fix things then the shower mixer cartridge is shot and will need to be replaced, but at this time I doubt it is the shower.
Let us know more here, OK?

No water in hot or cold bathroom sink after flushing my gas hot water heater
[ 5 Answers ]
Thank you. I flushed my hot water heater last night. I only turned the cold water intake to the heater off and on BUT now, after the flush, my second floor bathroom sink faucets (both hot and cold) don't work at all. The shower and the tub in the bathroom work but NOT the sink- HELP! Thanks so...
