I have a 7 month old child, her father abandoned her from birth. He has contact me very few times (no time about the child). I want to know if I can apply any criminal charges. I live in Ohio

Criminal charges for what?
You can petition for child support, but I see nothing criminal in his actions.

No you can't. Have you been to court to establish child support? If not, that would be your first step.

Abandonment as a criminal charge involves leaving a child without any adult supervision. That apparently didn't happen.
Has paternity been established? Have you applied for child support?

No, there is no criminal charge here, If shortly after the birth of the child, you filed for custody and child support, and he has failed to pay court ordered support, there may be criminal charges for non payment of support ( but you can merely ask, it is up to the DA to file the charges)
If you have not yet got a court order for anything, he does not even owe you money at this point

Yes I have filed for Child Support, but they can not find him. Since he has moved since I have given birth and has not had any activities like job, renting, jail, or anything. I've been waiting patiently.

Child Abandonment
I am attempting to redefine and criminalize child abandonment in Ohio, is there anyone who knows of a case where they, their child, or someone else has been financial abandoned by a birth parent.

And past cases mean little if you want to change the law, it is political lobby, and getting others to join a group you form, you raise money and then lobby the policitical people, help in campaigns for their election and more to gain political power

The only state that I know of that criminalizes failure to support a child is GA. That doesn't mean that failure to follow a support order can't put a person in jail.
But that failure to pay court ordered support is a national problem and has been the subject of many laws and studies.
What do you think you bring to the table that is new? Have you tried to find lobbying groups that deal with this issue?l
