    I have an mtd yard machines 38in. Tractor with a 12hp briggs and stratton I/c engine.
    While cutting grass I ran out of gas. When I filled up the tank and went to restart I will not restart and keeps popping back through carburetor

Every time I start it blue smoke billows out, and then clears up. It seems to sound knocky and rattly then that seems to quiet down too. I suspect that the rings are letting oil in at cold startup then the piston and rings expand when it warms up. This is a WAG, but seems to be what its doing.
