Is spotting normal during pregnancy in the 1st trimester?
I am about 11 weeks pregnant and have started spotting. It is mostly just when I wipe and is brownish/pink in color and mucus like. Is this normal? What could this be from?

It can be normal, but always best to let your doctor or midwife be aware of it.

Your uterus goes through a number of changes early on as there is an increase to the lining and a larger number of blood vessels present. The brownish colour often means it is older blood that is just now being seen.

In most cases, it is not a concern unless you were to have bright red bleeding along with cramping. For the peace of mind, you could ring your midwife or doctor to let them know.
