    Gurgling drains with septic
I have a septic field and the tank was pumped out less than a year ago. Everything was working fine. We have had allot of rain lately and now we are getting gurgling in the drains and water actually backed up into the tub. There are no foul odors or signs of the field soggy. Could this be a clog?

Do all toilets and sinks operate fine? This could just be a clogged drain pipe for the tub or a clogged vent.

Actually the gurgling just started a couple weeks ago and I can here it on and off at all drains. Everything drains, however, last night I noticed draining the bathtub; first the toilet gurgled and bubbled and the tub gurgled. This was only for a few seconds and then the tub drained normally but the water was sucked right out of the toilet.

A failed septic doesn't gurgle, a clogged vent stack does, this get worse soon

Gurgling drains and toilet [ 2 Answers ]

Drains and toilet gurgle during the night, when it's cold. Air bubles come up the toilet and then it actually drains itself, like the water is sucked out. Then it stops. Is this a sign of a future problem, what's happening? Only happens in the middle of the night around 3 am.
