We have already, I think, cleared the sewer line to the street and got out some roots, a paper towel and filled tub to test out and the stuff came back up the tub drains and toilets. Could the Vent be plugged also?

We are attached to the city sewer if that helps any. I think I saw a gentleman or could be a lady:) post here from Wheaton IL which is a neighboring town that seems to have answered here many times, Hi neighbor.

Think again! You missed some of the blockage. I would check the vent but If the sewer's cleared to the street with no standing water in the cleanout the you still have a blockage inside the house. You may have to -pull the toilet and snake from there. Good luck, Tom

Assuming goose necks are on toilet, sink and bathtubs to prevent gas from wasteline, lines are technically plugged with water. Why would blockage in one of these lines cause a back up?

Found 4 vents on roof, can't believe all are plugged. If there was something else plugged in he path, why would toilets, sinks and tub drain until waste line full?

Hey nuts, I might be the person you were thinking off but Speedballs answers are better than mine. I'm the grasshoopper to him. Tom and I both think your drain is still blocked. You may have reached all the way to the street but many blocks are at the riser coming up from the city sewer main. You could have been at the connect but not through it. Do you have a clean out on your drain? If so open it, if it is empty the block is inside your home above or up stream from the clean out. If you find standing water in the clean out the block is outside the home. Where are you from?

OK, still water in the cleanout. So your opinion is that it is outside the house then? Any idea where to rent a longer rodder? We have a 100 footer from RentalMax in Wheaton but that is the longest they have.

Nice new addition to your hospital. Let us know what is found at the clean out but run some water before opening the clean out. We want to partially recreate your block but without the sewage backing up.

Our answers passed in the night there. You're getting your snake from that place on Roosevelt near President, right? Ask them if they have the type of snake where you can add more sections. My city riser is 106 from my house so you may be similar. Measure from your clean out to the far side of your street, that's likley the distance you need to rod. I have worked with a few plumbing contractors in Wheaton who use a SeeSnake camera to scope out the problem. You get toi keep the video tape of your sewer when they are done.

Yes that is the place. Can't talk to them until Wed morning when they open as they are closed tomorrow and Tu. DH was thinking about asking the same thing he says. He will do the measure. He thinks the one we have has a splice at 50 feet so it looks as if we may be able to do that. If you can take the end off the first rodder and attach it to a 2nd and continue on, correct?

Any names you can pass onto me if we can't get this fixed on our own?

This isn't just "our opinion", it's a fact. Your plumber left you with a blockage. Call him back to fix it. Let me help you with the roots. RootX or Robics Foaming Root Killer that contain Dichlobrnic are two products you could try.
A less expensive way would be to call around to garden supply stores and ask for fine grain Copper Sulphate. Put a 1/2 pound in your toilet and flush it down. Repeat in 6 months.

Because water will seek its own level. Blockages will cause water to back up as high as the pressure will let them. If the pressure head is higher then a floor drain or a shower drain then the water will back up out of there. And by the way, I was born and raised in Rockford but moved to Florida in 1955.
