I was given 1 year probation for retail fraud and 1500 in fines and I'm broke
In troy,mi I wasted arrested for stealing and sentenced to a year probation and told to make payments over a 100 bucks a month. Then the judge ordered me to be on a random drug and alcohol screening list that called me in everyday and wanted 19 bucks every time I was called in and I explained to my judge I was a college student with no vehicle. Then the judge ordered me to take a retail fraud class which was an additional 100 bucks & said I had 2 months to pay for it. I've been attending my P.O. but I have only gave the courts 25 bucks because that's all I can afford. A month later the judge ordered me to come to court and pay 700bucks and pay for the 100 dollar retail class I haven't token yet. I missed my court because I was late and now they have warrant out for me and is now asking for 500 bucks. This just don't seem right to do to a human being in this economy.

    Hello j:

It wasn't right when they decided they could MAKE money off prisoners instead of prisoners COSTING them money... Years ago, society paid for probation and for other rehabilitation because society benefited MORE when an offender didn't re-offend. That's why we are the worlds LARGEST jailor.

Now, that's all out the window. They don't CARE that a prisoner and his family are absolutely made penniless by the system... It's kind of like poking a caged up animal, letting him lose and then with wide eyes, wonder why the animal attacked somebody.

All I can tell you, is pay as much as you can to show good faith... If you've done so, they CAN'T put you in jail simply because of money... But, if it looks like you just didn't pay, they could put you in jail.

What doesn't seem right? You stole. You don't think it's right that you have to pay for that in one way or another.

You have the option of serving time OR meeting probation requirements.

Why don't you surrender and serve the time, get this behind you?
