This question has been asked and answered many times here. There are no laws in most of the world that prohibit dating because of a difference in age. Any laws referring to an age gap or one or both parties being underage refer to sexual activity.

MD's age of consent is 16 but only if there is more than a 5 year difference in ages. However, sexual activity is not the only way you can get in trouble. Until she turns 18 the girl is under the control of her parents and if they prohibit the relationship he can get in trouble that way if he continues in defiance of them.

    That's the legal issues.

However, 18 and 15 is at the edge of scale. I gather you are now 17 and she is still 14. I have to wonder what you have in common with someone so young. You are at different stages of the development cycle. You will graduate soon and maybe go to college. She will still be home with high school concerns. So your relationship has little in the way of a future. You would be doing her a favor in not starting something you will not finish.

It only takes one word to turn her parents against him... and very little more can get him forever tagged as a sex offender and he has to register anyplace he moves to. Nobody CARES why... the simple fact he has a conviction is all it takes. And its what HER parents say... she is a child legally and has no input. I've seen parents change from liking someone to wanting to see them burn in hell in a matter of days or weeks.

Besides there is a HUGE difference in maturity between those ages. I really question WHY a guy that age even wants to mess with a girl of that maturity level. And she is going to change in the next 6 -10 years. And its going to be dramatic change and what she likes now will very unlikely be what she wants and likes then. At 18 you need to mess around with girls your own age. You can get in more trouble than you can imagine... and anything you might have a chance to gain are so insignificant, in a few years you are going to wonder why you wasted the time.
