He may have a blockage. Is there an emergency Vet Clinic near you? Does someone cover emergencies for your Vet?

My dogs are not allowed to have rawhide. They are big dogs and they swallow big chunks. After one frightening episode involving blockage I took them away.

Rawhide is indigestible, but it does soften up. Most of the time, a dog will vomit it back up. May take a few tries, but usually it comes back. If not? It may be too large to exit the stomach, and will just roll around in the stomach, creating irritation and loss of appetite. If so, you're looking at surgery to remove it from the stomach. Waiting for it to go through may not be a good idea, since it's a puppy. Best get your vet on board with this problem, since puppies need regular meals to keep their energy level adequate.

You also suggested he is outside a lot and may have gotten something there? Which would it be? He may also have vomited any rawhide outside, unbeknownst to you. Maybe it will be best to zero in on the problem a bit more. That could eliminate any surgical concerns, too.

Unfortunate how so often 'bad' things happen on weekends, when most clinics are closed, except Emergency ones. I wish you both well, and hope this has helped.

He is doing a little better now. Finally got him to eat some canned food mixed with his dry food and he is still drinking water. He was actually playing fetch with my son for a little while. He is moving around a lot more now. I'm thinking as long as he doesn't get any worse we'll just take him in on Monday . There aren't any emergency clinics where I live. Thanks a lot for the advice I t is greatly appreciated.
