Is this a legitimate debt that you owe? What type of support is this for? How long has this debt been outstanding?

You should be able to make payments on it and when done the lien will be removed. Worst case is that they would sell your property to satisfy the lien.

I had a large insurance settlement they found out about and that's why they filed the lien in circuit court. They also froze my bank account and stocks

So you got a settlement and didn't try to take care of your debt?

I'm not understanding something here. You built up a child support arrears of almost $40K over 20 years. Yet you were able to build a stock portfolio?

The fact is that you owe this money and they are legally entitled to collect. So they will attach the settlement and freeze your assets to pay what you should have been paying all along.

Then they may be making a grab to take what they can to catch you up. They usually aren't friendly about it. They normally swoop in and take everything they can. So from the sounds of it expect it to come due now and you keep what is left over.
