Smell in my washing machine and garbage disposal.
I have a smell coming from my garbage disposal and my washing machine. It smells like trash! I have cleaned my whole house trying to figure out what this smell is and I have narrowed it down to these two places. What could this be caused from?

It sounds like you have a problem with your drain and I can't help with that, but it could be from you washer. Depending on how old the washer is you could have a buildup of soap scum and oils from you body coating the inside of the washer. This is quite prevalent when folks use only cold water to wash to save money. The detergent doesn't dissolve properly and builds up inside the machine where you can't see it. Depending on the severity sometimes it has to be disassembled to clean it but usually running it with a full tub of HOT water, no clothes, and a cup of chlorine bleach will do the trick. With the garbage disposal, you can try running some bones through it (no chicken type bones) to help clean it out, followed by a lot of ice cubes.

    - Front load washers have to be cleaned all around the big rubber gasket.
    - After you run a dishwasher, which dumps into the disposal, you may have garbage in it.
    - As a dishwasher wears out, it tends to leave food in it which will smell. Shine a flashlight in it.
    - Dead mice and mice urine/droppings smell awful, and mice love to hang out under sinks and washers, and after making a mess, will die there too. (Also in/under dryers, downdraft vents, etc.)
