My hairdresser put in both high and low lights and my hair is way too brown. Normally, I'd have her correct it, but, she'll be away for 2 weeks and I am not a happy brunette! I understand that a combination of developer and shampoo will lighten the brown and expose the already bleached color under the dye, If so, do you know what ratio of developer to shampoo I need to use and how long I should leave it on? Thanks.

You shouldn't attempt to fix it yourself. I recommend that you wait until your hairstylist comes back. If you use another color, it will only make matters worse and it will cost more to fix it. So try to be patient, I'm sure your hairstylist will correct the color when she gets back.

A new hairdresser dyed my hair too dark a brown (she used, supposedly, a lot of dark blond and a little light brown. It is an ugly dark reddish brown).

I have heard you can lighten hair by using a combination of developer and shampoo, I think. Can someone tell me how? It is no use going back to the hairdresser. She kept insisting this mess was the right color for me. (I wanted dark blond that would last a little longer than usual).

I'm a licensed cosmotologist, I promise shampoo and developer mix will create a lifting effect. Wich will usually lead to an orangy effect. If you just want to lighten it up, try dawn dishsoap. And a lot of scrubbing. Followed by a good conditioner. Also remember when it comes to reds it's the first to fade, and the hardest to get out. So try a cleansing shampoo like any tea tree, or dawn.
