    Being accused of theft
I recently worked in a department store, you are not allowed to buy items during your working shift, so I asked a colleague to get me 3 tops that was in the sale and gave her the cash,
She came to my checkout as it was the only one available, I scanned in the sale goods but the original price rang up as this has happened before during sale week I manually adjusted the figure on till to the sale price that was Marked on the 3 items of clothing,
And colleague paid for them and placed them up in staff room with receipts on that day my bag was searched by managers and I receipts matched items,
Earlier that day I had handed my notice in because I had been offered a better job.

2 months later the police have arrested me on suspician of theft,

I went to police station who questioned me because the department store believe I altered the 3 items manually to my advantage meaning I have scanned items in at full price but reduced them to a lower price,

This is not true as I only marked them down to what they were priced at in the sale

I am now on bail why police get more evidence

Dose anyone have any idea what will happen to me now do you think they have a case my solicitor said not as I have not stolen anything I have only sold them at the price they were marked at despite the fact that it looks supicious that it is was for me and the colleague came to my till

Thank you if anyone can help I really am worrying

If you can prove they were on sale at the time, then the charges should be dismissed. But consider the circumstances; you MANUALLY changed prices on the merchandise AFTER you had given notice. If I was the store I would have been suspicious also, though I would have checked before pressing charges. Which means there may not be proof that the items were marked down.

See what the police investigation comes up with and then you can decide how to proceed.

I will say that you were foolish to make manual changes on this merchandise. As soon as it didn't scan properly I would have told the colleague to go to another cashier.
