Mothers name change on birth certificate
I need to correct my mothers name on my birth certificate. My grandaughter is going for her dual citizenship and needs the name corrected. Her first name is says Lena and it should be Angelina. Her married name is correct but her maiden name is also incorrect it says Lena Angelina and the maiden name is left out. I have her marriage certificate with the correct name first and last maiden name. Where do I go and how do I make these corrections? Thank you

You failed to say what country you live in, and if the US what state, so rules vary

But there will be a government agency in your jurisdiction that records and keeps those records, They would need to be contacted and asked what info needs to be provided to make that correction.

Your granddaugter's name wouldn't be on your birth certificate to begin with.

I live in New York. I was born in Brooklyn, NY and my mother was born in Italy. ( she is deceased) My granddaughter was told by the Italian consulate in NY that the corrections must be made before they can consider the application. They did not tell us where to go or how do to this.

If you were born in Brooklyn (=Kings County), you should go to to this website for information regarding your birth certificate.
