What is material is used to seal block for a basement in NC?
I am checking into maybe building a basement under my cabin in NC inlet, Seven Springs and was wondering if the water table is too close to the surface to build about 8 feet block basement. Some of the block will be in the ground and some block will be on the surface level. What is used to seal the block to prevent future damp problems on the inside and outside of the block?

You need to knpow a whole lot more before you decide what to do. Building a basement uder an existuing home usually requires a house mover to lift the whole house off the foundation by about 1/2". Does anyone near you have a dry basement, hacve you had a soil test to see what the table is. Most basements in my area are near but never below the water table and even then they need a curtain drain system with a sump pump. Ask 3 well known contractors in your aera for bids, most likely don't take the low bid. If you are looking for more storage a garage would be a much cheaper bet, attached or free standing
