    <moved from Online Education to Women's Health>

    You will go into an exam room and be asked to undress. You will then, most likely put a gown on open to the front.

    The doctor will come in, with a nurse, and ask you to lie on the examination table, scoot your bottom down to the edge of the table and place your legs in stirrups.

    The doctor will then place a speculum in your vagina and look at your vaginal vault and cervix. Then he/she will take a scrape (don't worry, it doesn't hurt) of your cervix. After the speculum is removed he/she will place 2 fingers in your vagina and his/her other hand on your abdomen to feel your ovaries.

    When this is done the breast exam will happen.

    The first time is the scariest, but it will, or should, become a routine exam.

Pelvic exam [ 6 Answers ]

Bah, this sounds like a stupid concern, but I don't know, it bugs the hell out of me. My girlfriend is (most likely) about to go on birth control, which means she's going to be having her first pelvic exam. And from what little I know of it, it's a... stretch... in most cases, so I guess my worry...
