Checking the size of the uterus with a pelvic exam
During what week of pregnancy will a doctor notice a change in the size of the uterus (when he does the bimanual part of the pelvic exam)? I've heard it's 6-8 weeks. Is that true?

So would he feel a change in a pregnant woman's uterus size 7.5 weeks after she last had sex (putting her at least at 8-9 weeks along)? Her last period was may 3, exam on July 10.

When did your doctor notice that your uterus was larger at one of your first prenatal appointments?

Yes, many doctors/midwives will be able to tell the increased size and change in the feel of the uterus this early on. One thing they also check for is pelvic measurements... to get an idea of the size and shape of your pelvis. Most women are fairly close in size, but sometimes there can be an unusual shape or dimension, which may cause them to keep a closer eye on the pregnancy and may impact how and when you give birth.
