Need to know if I let my ex- husband get primary residential of kids, do I lose them.
Well, I let my ex- husband have ours kids for awhile so he could get to know them and them get to know him and his new wife better. Well, he had me sign primary residence to him because he need it for the army. Well, now he is going back to Afgan. And our kids are coming back with me to live. But, when he gets back he wants them back. Do I, need to get a lawyer? Can he take them back? What does primary residence mean? Did I sign my rights over by doing that? We do have joint custody. Please Help

How far apart do the two of you normally live?

    How old are the kids?

"Primary residence" would be for school records, for library cards, where they sleep at night, etc.

How did you get them from him while he's in Afghanistan? Did he or you sign something?

But, he deceived me. See the girls were just to stay there for a yr. to get to know him and his new wife. He hasn't been in the kids lifes awhole lot because of the army. So, I thought it would be OK to let them stay with him for a yr.

I haven't talked to the schools yet. I need to know if he can take them back when he returns. Do I need to get primary residence for our kids. I think he is trying to keep them forever. I was trying to be nice and now I don't know what to do.

STOP using that stupid comment feature to answer or do follow up, first it is too limited on what you can say, and it is not the right way to do it.

YOU answer your own question in the answer box to give full and complete follow up questions.

Next, was this form for residence though the court, or just something that he printed up ?

As for as where the kids live full time, you and he can go back to court year after year after year and fight that out, if you don't agree out of court

Ok thanks I am sorry for that. I am new at all of this. I don't have anyone else to ask. To answer your questions sir. He went to a laywer and had a paper drown up. But he told me he needed that for the army. I wonder if I need to get a lawyer and do the same thing. Because he will be gone for a yr or longer. Who really know with the army.

Is the children's father willing to let them live with you as their primary residence and will sign a paper to that effect?

    Do you have a lawyer?
