How to tie in a drain line into sewer line?
I have a kitchen sink backing up because of a bad galvanized pipe that goes under the concrete floor in the basement. Can I cap off the galvanized pipe that comes out of the basement floor about two feet and then run a new line through the cinder block in the basement, then go outside with the pipe and t into the sewer line. I don't want to cut up the basement floor. The cider block that I would like to cut through is about three feet under ground

Hi Rbarbero... You said, "the cinder block that I would like to cut through is about three feet under ground"... Did you mean ABOVE ground? If so, running a pipe through an outside wall above ground could be an issue for you in freezing weather conditions... could be? In most cases, it wouldn't really be a problem, but if you had a drippy faucet it could lead to a frozen drain and maybe even a broken drain pipe so I'd look at all options before running any pipes outside and above ground. Either way, if you do this work you'll want to connect into the sewer main drain using a WYE fitting... no Tee fittings on a horizontal waste line, OK?
