Kitchen drain tied into sewer line
My husband and I bought a house in July of 2006 and our home has a crawl space. Just recently we noticed a water problem in our crawlspace. While my husband was searching for the problem we noticed that the previous owners had punched a hole into the sewer line and laid the kitchen sink drain over top of the whole. Because this was done this way it caused a big mess when the crawl space flooded. Is this normal for drianage to be done this way? I thank you very much for your time. Jen

Perhaps he made a bad connection but water from the sink and from the toilet both go to the same place, they are both waste water. I would have the connection checked and make sure it was done correctly but in the end both of these pipes would connect somewhere

You will need no hub couplings, combination, elbows [45 degree] glue, pipe, and a mask.

There is nothing correct about punching a hole into a waste line and then dropping another waste line into the hole.

Doug and Growler are bang on. This connection's illegal and should be corrected at once. Regards, Tom
