    Permanent Resident
I am permanent resident whose card expired and I am in the process of renewing it. My job let me go because the card has expired, saying that work status has expired. I explained to them that I am still a permanent resident, just have to get my new card.

Does anyone think that they should let me go since I am a LEGAL resident here?

    Regards,
    Confused

You are a permanent resident, but you don't have good proof of it.

You are right in that you are a permanent resident and the card expiration is not material to your status; but, you also didn't extend your PR card and your company needs a valid I-551 to show you are a PR.

You should make an INFOPass appointment at the USCIS Field Office to get a stamp in your passport. With that the company has evidence of your PR status. If they will not rehire you, find a labor & employment lawyer to discuss your case. Good luck.
