    Can a name be added onto the deeds of a house if the mortgage is not fully paid.
    Hi my wife and I have been married for three years the house we live in is in her name both mortgage and deeds are in my wife's name she pays the mortgage on it ,I was told that my name can not be added to the deeds of the house because my name is not on the mortgage and the only way that my name can be added to the deeds is when the mortgage is fully paid also my name can not be added because the mortgage belongs to the bank and not my wife and that she would need to re mortgage the property and then add both our names on the new mortgage before my name can be added onto the deeds. Please can you sheed any light on this. I was told that I don't need to have my name on the mortgage to have it on the deeds. I only want my name to be added to my wife's name on the deeds of the property.

    Who said you have to pay off the mortgage to add your name to the deed?
