What plant is this?
Here is a plant that's in my office.
I've killed it and want to get another one of the same kind.
Do any of you know what it is?
Thanks!

Hello R:
I think it's an Areca Palm. But, lots of palms look alike.

Thanks, Excon. I did an image search for the Areca Palm, and yes it does look just like that:

It is exactly that. I have a few of them, including two sago palms.

Thanks, Janine. To be sure, I'll take a branch of it to my local plant store - to get a replacement... so that my mom doesn't have to know that I killed the plant that she bought for my office :)

Is it completely dead or is that a recent pic? If it's recent it can most likely be revived but cutting off the dead branches.

Oh, and it needs a bigger pot and more water.

Hello again, Rick:
A word of caution... Lots of palms look alike. Although I think your palm is an Areca, it could also be a Kentia, which is about 10 X's more expensive than an Areca.

Janine: The picture was taken today. I've watered it weekly. I think the problem is that it does not get enough light.
Excon: I'll just take a branch of it to my local supplier to get a replacement in the hopes that my mom will not notice that I killed the one that she bought me.
I do confess that I have not watered it enough - and did not spritz the leaves with water as I was instructed to do when I got it... so I'll get a replacement and do better with it in the hopes of keeping it alive.

It doesn't look dead to me, maybe just some trimming up?

It will look very scrawny if I trim it now. Even if I trim the dead branches, there are still so many of the others that have brown leaves on them... I'm thinking that it's a lost cause...
... so that's why I'm going to buy a new one
