He pays too much for me
I saw that someone else has asked a similar question, but in my case, he is the one who invites me to go to eat/drink something. I know that he wants to be a gentleman, but I don't feel comfortable at all knowing that he spends a lot of money on me. My parents are working too and it is not fair to let him pay all the time. Once I succeeded in convincing him to let me pay for me at least but that was a long time ago. I don't want to let him pay for me any more, neither to beg him all the time that it is my turn. What should I do?

Tell him it's a 50/50 relationship, that you both have to pitch in just like in your rellationship

You said that he's the one who asks you out to eat/drink, so therefore it's understandable that he would offer to pay.

How about YOU ask him to go out for a drink or to eat, then it's more reasonable for you to pay.

Furthermore, maybe you can talk about the issue before you enter the restaurant. Just have an understanding that you really appreciate that he's been treating you, but you would like to treat him back sometimes.

He pays for me even if I ask him to go out. I also tried to talk about this before going somewhere, but he doesn't agree with this idea. When he gets bored of listening to what I have to say he says he will let me pay but he doesn't keep his word. We had a quite serious discussion about this and he told me that his mother doesn't agree with my paying. I understand that he is under pressure, but I don't feel good to let him do it all the time.

You mentioned his Mother not agreeing. How old are you two?

This sounds so much like my daughter and her boyfriend. They are both nearly 18.

She finally got him to compromise by her cooking for him every so often. Sometimes, they eat here and enjoy a movie. Sometimes, it is a picnic at the park or going fishing. She 'pays' for the date by supplying food, etc. He doesn't feel like he is taking advantage of her.

    You're very welcome.
