    Adjusting my Jet Pump?
I recently replaced my pressure tank, which was a cast iron tank with a bladder tank. After doing so, I cannot seem to get the pressure in my system that I used to get. The pump has an adjustable screw on the housing next to the output, which I assume is a restriction valve. I do not know if I have this valve adjusted correctly since I adjusted it closed to restart the pump and forgot how many turns I had made! My pump is a 1/2 hp jet pump with 2 pipes into the well(I assume this is a deep well, I am not really sure). I used to be able to get about 50psi out of the pump, but now the best I can do is about 42psi. Could my pump be going? Or is the valve just not adjusted correctly? Any help would be great!

    Thank you!
    John

Open the screw and check to see if it increases the pressure. Let me know, Tom

    Tom,
The only pressure gauge I have on the system right now is one on the pump itself. What seems to happen when I adjust this screw is this: If I adjust it all the way in it increases the pressure but decreases the flow to nothing. If I adjust the screw out, it will increase the flow and decrease the pressure. It gets to a point (adjusting outward) where the flow falls off and the pressure falls way off.

Another issue that I just created while playing with this... After reading several of your posts to other people, I checked the pressure in my tank and found it was low compared to my cut off pressure, so I added air to the tank so I had about 40Psi. But now when I run the water, the pressure will slowly drop to about 38psi then jump down to about 30psi, drop a little more then kick the pump on. It also sounds like there is air in the system when the pressure drops real quick. Any ideas? It doesn't seem like air is getting in through the bladder, because I checked the pressure again and it didn't change, still at about 40psi.

    Thanks again!

The average cut in and cut out pressure in a control box runs mostly 20 cut in and 40 cut out with 30/50 as a option for higher pressure. The bladder tank setting should be 2 PSI under the cut in pressure of the control box after the system has been shut down and drained so no pressure's in the system. Are you telling me that your control box cuts in at 40 PSI and out at 80? That's high for a water system when you stop to consider that the average house system is 45 PSI in city water supplies. Check your control box and let me know. Regards, Tom

    Tom,
Opps, I thought you had said in other posts that you set the pressure 2 psi under cut out not cut in. I think I need to re-adjust that! My cut in is around 25 psi.
    Thanks,
    John
