    Mold in bathtub / shower drywall and studs, exterior wall, behind tile.
    I am doing a tile job and need some advice. I removed the old tile from a townhouse bathroom and discovered the wall to be more rotted than I had first expected. ( I knew there was a problem to begin with). It's an exterior wall and has the old "Gyproc Wool" type, papered bat insulation along with a now decayed (tar and paper?) vapour barrier. There is a lot of mold in the drywall I removed and I'm sure I'll be bleaching the whole area in the morning. The owner doesn't want me to remove the tub and start from the floor up, but I will be replacing all the dampened/molded insulation and doing my best to clean and dry the area out. Being that it is an exterior wall (with a window), I figure on doing as follows. Am missing anything or doing anything I shouldn't?

    *remove insulation, bleach whole area to kill off mold and allow to dry, install new insulation and poly vapour barrier, install cement board or moisture-guard, tape and mud seams with morter, install waterproof membrane and finally install tiles, grout and sealant.

    Before starting to reinstall, check window for leaks. Using a hose start below window and work your way up.

    Have you found what was leaking to cause mold?

    If they don't have one suggest an exhaust fan vented to outside.
