Can mold come through a brick wall or tile?
My daughter-in-law has been looking into renting a building for a daycare. We here that it may have mold. How can we tell? The walls of this building is brick and has tile on the floors. We stripped the floors this weekend, after about and hour with the doors open the floor never dried. It did dry overnight.

    Hi, tonya riley!

Greetings and WELCOME to the site! I just moved your question that you had posted in Introductions to this forum topic area so that it would get the most exposure to those who are best able to answer it. Introductions is for people to introduce themselves and we try to not ask questions there.

It can be a little confusing when first learning how to use this site! Your question will get noticed much more in this forum topic area.

We would appreciate it if you would return to Introductions sometime to tell us a little about yourself though, if you would be willing to do that.

Concerning your question, it's possible that the best people who can answer it might not even be online right now. So, it's best to be patient rather than to keep posting.

I'm sure that someone knowledgeable will eventually be along to address your question.

    Thanks!

What Elevation is this wet floor, joist/concrete slab/ wood joist sub floor?
The tile you stripped, was it on wood or concrete?
Was the tile ceramic or place and press?
How old is the building? And is brick wall a double brick wall and plaster inside? Mold can't go through brick only the moisture. Its too much of a solid. It can get behind the brick veneer between the sheeting and the brick.

To be sure about the possible mold get Lic inspector in that specializes in mold abatement and get a written inspection Report. Protect everyone that uses this structure. Especially a day care center. I personally would get two different inspectors In just to cover yourself In case something go bad later and you have papers for court and the little kid thing. It may be the best business move on setting up the daycare. Also have the inspector(s) look for any asbestos that may be on insulated pipes or other areas.. Be your own police so to speak
