I'm not familiar with the software but I'll do what I can. That's kind of a bummer. Peachtree lets you have two years open at once. So in this situation I would not be able to start entering stuff for 2010 yet, but I could still go back and close out 2008. Then I'd be able to open 2010.

Are you able to adjust beginning balances for 2009? Look for some kind of setup thing, or maybe the chart of accounts area will let you enter new numbers.

Look at January 09 statements. Are they showing everything from 2008 still in there? (i.e. revenues & expenses) Did you actually close out 2008 in the software? If not, does this thing let you work on 2010 without closing it out? Have you done any 2010 stuff? (Just trying to figure out what the software does.)

You can make a big entry to update retained earnings, but it's all going to end up on the statements.

How reasonable is it for you to just start a new client? How reasonable is it for you to make a big entry 1/1/09, just to get it into the software, but then have to adjust that back off manually at the end of 2009 so you can have proper statements?

Are you able to delete stuff you've already entered?

There might be ways to get the numbers in there, and even print correct 2009 statements, but not have the software itself have 2009 correct. Or ways you can get everything in there, so that 2009 ends the right way, but that you'd have to do statements manually (i.e. in Excel or something) so that you have correct printed copies.
