    We really can't answer your question because of the lack of details. SS is exempt from most types of debt. But child support, taxes and other debts may be taken from the checks. Also once the funds are commingled with other funds they are fair game. So you need to give us more details. Please use the Answer This Question options to provide further info.

    Depends on what type of check it is (SSI does issue several types)... and what the type of ien, seizure or levy it is.
