I need to install a vacuum relief valve on the cold water supply line for my hot water tank. I know where to install it but I was just wondering what I need to do before doing the work (obviously turn off the water to the house), but do I need turn off the power (its electric) to the hot water...
Cold water leaks into hot water line

I turn the cold water off at the water heater. When I open a hot water faucet there is cold water coming out. There shouldn't be any water coming out so it seems like there is a cross connection of some kind allowing cold water into the hot water lines.

I recently purchased a rental house. I replaced the hot water heater and shut off valves. With the shutt-off in and out of the tack are closed, I still get cold water from the hot side of all faucets in the house. When valves are open, and temp. Set at very hot, I get semi-hot water.

I have hot water in the cold water line. I have a tempcontrol valve Symmons (5-200) and looks like is backwards, because the cold water is going into the hot section of the valve. This can be the problem why I'm getting hot water in the cold line?

Somehow in my house cold water is getting into my hot water lines. Shows up partly in water at taps not hot as should be. Shows up in that shower can turn cold temporarily and then return to hot. How can this be? View more questions Search
