    Wrongful termination
Hello, I am 20 years old and was employed at a company for almost 2 years. I was shot while on my day off in both legs and could not walk. I spoke with my supervisor and he said I could take the time off that was needed and to keep him updated on my healing process. I called him at the end of my first week off and let him know I would need one more week (Total of 2 weeks off) then I'd be in. He had no problem with it. I went in the following Monday, with my Hospital notes and Dr.s notes and he let me know that he had to let me go because the owners of the company were in and noticed I was out? I'm not sure what that had to do with my medical leave? But he let me go. Could this be a wrongful termination case?

If you are working in a state that is an "at will" state you can be terminated for any or no reason. If you feel that you are wrongfully terminated you can still file for unemployment benefits and let them decide.

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

You actually may have a case here. Even if its an at will state, if you have any proof that you informed the supervisor of the problem, especially that he OKed the leave, you may have a case. The main problem is that your time out may have been too short for FMLA. It also matters whether the company had a sick leave policy. I would advise cosulting with an attorney who can better tell you whether you do have a case wrht pursuing.
