my dog ripped up a bag of spoiled raw meat and now she's gagging and throwing up?
Hello, I have a sittuation with my 3month old pit. She's gagging a lot and pukes everyonce in a momment. I've read the possibilities of worms, this could be it because my pup hanst been to the vet or had her shots. I try to keep her off the grass and not outside for too long, enough for a short workout and diggestion time. I heard it couldn't be the wind pipes damaged. My idiot boyfriend picked her up a few times by the collar, she's about 10lbs and it might be that taking in afect. But I think it could be the raw spoiled chicken she played with. I was to throw out spoiled raw chicken and ended up leaving it in a bag in the morning the pup ripped the bag pretty bad. I'm thinking she must have eaten some raw meat and now is sick. ='( she barfed on there bed and when she's walking around the apt. Anothing thing is ever since I got her I noticed right away she breather from her nose funny. Like a stuffy wisttle sound when she's sleeping mainly. Please if there is a doc in the house lemmi know a what could be the problem... I will take her to the vet but she will have to wait for a few days. I hope she gets beter and not worse. Thanks for reading.

Liz, it is very hard for me to type this and keep a civil tone in my writing.

I love pitbulls and do not want them to be in the wrong hands. What your boyfriend is doing is so far from wrong I don't have the words to describe it. Why are you allowing him to handle her that way? There are enough pitbulls in this world that have been and are still being abused. You cannot allow your boyfriend to mishandle your dog.

You have a young puppy. You need to puppy proof your house. That means getting rid of ANYTHING that might hurt your dog. You need to crawl around on your hands and knees and see what the dangers are around your household and remove them. Are there loose cords that the puppy may chew on? Stuff like that.

So, now you have a puppy that is sick. If you think she has worms, she needs medicine. Yes, she may vomit up all the spoiled chicken and be fine. Then again, she may die from dehydration. We cannot examine your dog online. You need to get her into the vet's office PRONTO. If you can't give her a safe place to live, and you cannot afford the time or the money to get her to a vet immediately, you need to seriously consider rehoming her.

    Right on the money JAL.

I've read and re-read this post, and have deleted my answer several times now. First I will address your main concern.

Dogs stomach's are designed to digest pretty much anything. The raw spoiled meat, will make her sick, as her stomach is not as developed as an adults dogs, so any new food may make her sick and give her diarrhea.Make sure she has plenty of fresh water, make sure she has free access to the water anytime she wants it to prevent dehydration.

I can NOT stress enough how important it is to get her to the vet and get her de wormed. Parasites can become deadly if left untreated. Parvo is the leading puppy killer. Your dog is at a high risk for developing it. It only takes once. It only takes one sniff from an infected water source or area to contract this easily preventable disease.

Now I will address your idiot (your words not mine) boyfriend. Have you not read the statistics on pit bulls? Do you not know about the fear based law BSL? It's people like your boyfriend, that contribute to the pittes bad rep. They are wonderful, loving dogs, but because of mishandling and poor treatment, and the fact that they may snap, like ANY other animal that is being mistreated, they are being put to sleep and banned just because of their breed. Your boyfriend is ABUSING your dog, and you are letting it happen. Your dog deserves the best care possible. Her life is in YOUR hands, and she deserves to be loved and get proper medical care.

Any pit bull owner should fully admit that these dogs are not the right breed for everyone to own. Pit bulls are a breed that require a lot of attention, training, dedication, and most of all, a tough skin. With BSL rearing its ugly head in different parts of the world, it is important that pit bull owners are responsible, and a positive representative of the breed. Please, help set a good example!

A 3 month old Pit should weigh a little more than 10 lbs. Not a lot more, but that indicates it isn't the chicken. I hope it's only worms, so you can keep her hydrated until you get to the vet. I'm afraid of several other things, though, from parvo (worst) through distemper to flu to sinus trouble (best).

If finances are the problem, let me suggest trading her at the shelter for an older mongrel. Mongrels are sometimes hardier than purebreds.

While you're trading, consider a different model idiot as well.

Everyone had covered everything beautifully (sorry had to spread the rep)

I would be concerned about the plastic bag more than the chicken. Plastic can easily cause a lot of problems once it hits the stomach like blockages or can even snag around vital organs causing gangrene.

The whistling isn't really a conern. As long as she is breathing normally and doesn't have trouble after exercise, mine can make some horrid noises when they are sleeping.

I can't tolerate people who are cruel to animals... but that's whole other chapter.
