    Minor child's rights
My daughter had a child out of wedlock her senior year of high school. Her daughter is now 7 years old she begged the father to be a part of her life for the first couple of years and he refused . Now after 7 years he wants parental rights. He has a record of being in jail for drugs and he is still using drugs. He was in a coma caused from drugs and has also attempted suicide. Is our courts actually going to give this guy visitation. He is on disability due to his heart condition from drug usage. So of course the government will be taking care of child support. Where is the justice and protection for these children??

He may wants rights but whether he will be awarded with them is another question.

I am in doubt about his right to visitation . But if he gets visitation it will be supervised.I suggest you to ask for professional supervisor. He must pay for it/$100-150/h ?

He has the right to ask for them, he may well get supervised visits, the child's mother will have to fight it in court, since if she does not fight it, he will merely be given. She will have to provide court records, police documents and more.

Even with her protests it is very likely that the court would require parenting class, perhaps counseling and then supervised visits only.
