If I take up my carpets can I use the existing plywood subfloor as the main flooring
I need to take up the 20 year old carpets in my home but can't afford hardwoods or lamanant flooring, can I use the existing plywood subfloor that's under the carpets as the main flooring until I can have proper flooring put down? I am going to do a paper bag floor so its not just the plain plywood that we will be walking on.I did this type of floor in a pryor home an it was still there when I sold the home 12 years later.

In my area it is OK... Only bathroom floor and laundry floor has to have some kind of flooring installed... otherwise, in other rooms, sub-floor is OK...

If this is your home and you are living in it, you can, the issues can be if you damage the subfloor to a level where they can't be used and have to be replaced before other flooring is put down.
