How can I get my soon to be exes name off the car lease and just have it in my nam
My soon to be ex-husband and I are both named on a car lease. I tried to get it in my name only because he has a felony for DUI. I was told that I didn't qualify financially for the lease alone, so he co-signed with me. We have been separated for almost a year, and I have the vehicle since he doesn't have a driver's license. The lease won't be up until Oct. 11, so I have the car until then. I have been making the monthly payments myself for almost a year, and I want him taken off the lease. I have wonderful credit, and he does NOT, but I think that the fact that I am making the payments on time is helping to raise his credit score. Is it possible for me to just have the car in my name only, even though I wasn't elligible to have it in my name alone in the first place? I make enough to cover the lease and I just want him off it. Any suggestions?

See if they will cancel and sign a new lease ?

But I am sorry in line two you said you did not qualify financially, you will have to meet that now

Next is he just a co-signer ( if so his name is not really on the lease, has no ability to effect it, he is just liable to pay if you don't
