My high school sweetheart of almost 12 years dumped me...
Our relationship had been steady since jr year of high school... actually on the 5th year, she needed some "space" so we were broken up for a year, then got back together.
She just dumped me again about 2 hours ago (now almost 12 years since high school). The main phrase she used to me is that she needed to "grow" by herself. This being my 2nd time she dumps me, I didn't go as delirious as the first time and we just gave each other an extended set of hugs and packed her stuff and walked her to her car.
Anyhow, I'm just here to vent. I never cheated on her and we were engaged for a year (after jobs settling down and all) and I'm stuck with this expensive ring now. I guess I'll just keep it as a memento of my feelings rather than sell it.
At the moment I hope she does call me but I I'll give her the space and not call her.
I'm just here to vent guys... what do I do now :-\ I'm turning 30 soon and I haven't dated since high school.

Well I guess from what I see, is that she's been with you, and only you for her life, maybe she wants to try new people? You know, be more dependent without a boyfriend and such.
Maybe you should do the same, go and meet new faces?

Should I go out with some buddies and drown my sorrows at a bar?
Threads merged
So I'm less than a week removed from being in a very long heart-killing relationship...
Friend is asking me to go out to a bar to chug down some beers to vent and maybe try to meet girls...
Question is should I do it or wait a bit as I may be rushing it? Being heartbroken is unfortunately a new experience for me.

What was so heart-killing about the relationship, please?
Thanks!

Breakups are terrible, but if you've been seeing this woman for 12 years and you still haven't decided to make it permanent, she's just not the one for you.
Maybe it's time for you to heal, then date some other women for awhile. Who knows, maybe you'll find someone else that'll want that diamond!

I feel your pain. My high school sweetheart just up and left me this summer. Still not sure what the real problem was.
It's hard for us guys to just "go meet new faces and meet some new girls" when we haven't dated since high school. Women have it easy: buy a new outfit, go out to the club/party/anything where they'll be easily welcomed, and they can find anybody they choose. Us committed men, we don't have it in us to just "go out there and get someone". The best I can say (for myself) and for you, is to start slow, make some good friends, and then make the next move. Don't rush into a new relationship, because at least for me, after a heartbreak this tragic will ruin any 'rebound' relationship you have.
