    Patch of yard that won't grow grass.
    I have an area in the front yard that is brown and won't grow grass... 1/2 the day in the sun, other half of day in the shade... All grass around it looks fine. I live in Washington state. What should I do?. Thanks

    Remove 5" of soil. Add top soil, starter fertilizer and appropriate seed or rent sod cutter and lay sod.

I have a spot in my yard where the grass simply won't grow. It is in the shade, and the dirt is actually like clay. I have spread some seeds, and placed down top soil, but it still won't grow.
