Carrier compressor delays start after a few cycles
I have a Carrier model 561CJ030-E condenser that starts fine when it is first turned on. After one or two cycles, on a call for cooling the condenser fan comes on but the compressor usually delays coming on for 5-15 minutes. What can cause this?

Usually if there is a built in time delay the compressor and fan still start together so in this case it seems to be a compressor start problem only.

There are a few possibilitys or in this case guesses.
Weak compressor run capacitor would be the first item.
Adding a start relay and capacitor would be my second.

The basic problem is the fact that you probably do not have an Amprobe meter to test the current draw and you may not even have a standard test meter for voltage checks. That is why I mentioned guessing since other necessary info is not available do to lack of tools.

I recently replaced my 19 year old heat pump and this is the first winter I have used the new one. I have...

I have an Amana C/A that runs normally during the day but late in the evening when the outside temp is the same as the inside temp the compressor turns off and then back on again in short cycles. My Carrier HP cycles at night [ 3 Answers ]

I have a new Carrier 25HBR 13 Seer 1.5 ton heat pump and in the heating mode when the outside air is below 35, the unit cycles like crazy. Keeps me up at night. Is this correct? I have tried two different thermostats with the same result.

Compressor constantly cycles on/off [ 2 Answers ]

The compressor on my 3 ton unit cycles on for a minute or two and then off for a minute or two, for long periods at a time. The blower is not cycling on/off because of the thermostat setting ( themostat at 78, room temp at 84). The air is cool, so it's not very noticeable inside the house that...
