    My puppy will not eat
I purchased a german shepherd puppy at 6 weeks old. When she was 9 weeks old I had to go out of town so I left her with the breeder. I thought if she was with the mother again she would help teach her not to bite hard. I was gone for ten days. While I had her I was feeding her only Royal Canin german shepherd food. The puppies at the breeder was eating puppy chow. My puppy was eating both foods while she was there. The last four days she was there she stopped eating, and was taken to the vet twice. When I picked her up I took her home and I tried to get her to eat but she would not play, bark, or eat she just laid down with very sad eyes. I took her to the vet the same day. The vet checked her blood and stools and put her on an IV. He said she has coccidia. It has been three days with little to no change and she is still inpatient. What else can I do? Should the vet check for something else? I don’t want her to die please help!!

According to what I have read in serious cases it may take longer then 3 days to get over it. Is the dog still at the vets? The treatment is antibiotics and that is what the dog needs most. There is always the possibility of it being combined with other things but Im sure your vet is on top of it. If the dog is at home with you and still not showing signs of improving then its time to call the vet again and speak with them. The dog needs to eat and drink daily.

Califdad is right, Coccidiosis can take sometimes weeks for it to be cleared from the system. Especially in younger pups. Pups usually contract it from their mom's feces, so I hope the breeder will be treating mom and any other pups that may be left. If left un treated it can cause death.

If your dog is at the vet, I am sure she is in good hands, and will be well taken care of. The treatment for Coccidia is very effective and usually inexpensive. The most important thing right now will be for her to get her de wormer and fluids. And if that needs to be administered via I.V than being at the vet is the best place for her.

Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.

Today is Monday my puppy Pink has been at the vets since Thursday. We went to see her in the hospital today and she looks good, she's playing and biting again. She needs training but that's OK I'm so happy to see her playing and jumping around. She won't come home until tomorrow and we will be ready to shower her with love. I was feeling sick because she was sick but now its time to have some fun. Thanks for the support.
