Help with Universal Fan Motor Replacement on a Goodman Heat Pump
My old fan motor had a 3 wire set up. Brown -> Cap, Black -> contactor, Purple -> Circuit board. My new replacement motor has a 5 wire set up. Green and white -> ground? Brown ->?? Brown/White ->?? Black ->? And White ->? From what I understand, the B, B/W will go to the new capacitor, and I'm unsure of the others. Any ideas? I appreciate any help at all. The only diagrams I've been able to find had the purple going to the cap not to the circuit board.

Is this a 2 speed motor? I would assume green- ground the 2 browns to the new cap, black to the contactor, and white to the defrost control. You have no wiring diagram?

It's set up for CCW or CW rotation. There's not much of a diagram on it. That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure.

So, I hooked up the new motor... it runs! BUT no cool air?? Old motor was burnt up, could it have messed up something else with it?

All I can hear is the fan, so I don't think so.

Can I chime in here and ask if anyone knows how to set the wires to adjust the motor speed? This is a new Goodman unit installed in winter with the fan set to low speed. I'd like to set it to high speed for cooling. Any help appreciated.

If installed right,, it should automatic change-over when put into the ac mode

Well, the installer told me two wires could be moved (yellow and white?) and the motor would run at either speed depending where the wires were connected. He never said the 2-speed was automatic depending on heat or cool. If you could tell me how to set it to auto that would be great. I used a local independent man who has since moved away. I should have written it down, but it seemed simple enough when he showed me.
BTW, I have Goodman GPH14H Packaged Heat Pump. Link- http://www.goodmanmfg.com/Home/Products/PackagedHeatPumps/GPH14H14SEERDedicatedHorizontal/tabid/758/Default.aspx

The bad fan motor sent amps back to the capacitor and ruined it, so the compressor couldn't work either.
