    Georgia law for abandonment
    My stepson's biomother lives in another state. My husband has custody and she has visitation. She isn't ordered to pay Cs and so she doesn't. She hasn't seen my ss in almost 2 years but calls a few times a year. Does this consitute as abandonment? If not, what does?

    Ok, so I just read the sticky concerning Child abandonment.

    Our ultimate goal is to have the Bio's visitation revoked or have her pay support or even have her sign away her rights (not going to happen voluntarily). We prefer the first option of having her visitation revoked or at least greatly reduced.

    What are your grounds for wanting this? Simply because she's not a part of his life? If she hasn't seen her son in two years, I don't see how you could reduce her visitation anymore.

    Has your husband been legally established as the father? Was he married to the mother at any point, did he sign a paternity acknowledgment or did he take a DNA test?

    If he wants child support, all he needs to do is file in court. Most states will not allow support to be back-dated but it can be ordered from the time of the filing. And again, he will need to be legally established as the father in order for this to happen.

    Hello mom:

    I don't know. Trying to have somebody's rights curtailed, who don't USE their rights anyway, has NEVER made any sense to me. Oh, you're not the only one... It seems like such a waste of money to try to stop somebody from doing, what they have absolutely NO intention of doing in the first place.
