P trap for tub on slab does not line up
My p trap sub out is located 13" from the center of a new tub I am installing and there is room in the cut out area in the slab to run a offset to it. Would this be okay?

    Hi Stevndal:

Best case will be for you to offset the drain pipe using 45s (or 22.5 degree fittings) and then install the PTRAP directly under the tub waste assembly.

If you try to offset the piping after the trap it could create an STRAP setup and this is not only against code, but also has a tendency to catch more gunk which can act as a wick to siphon water from the STRAP creating a condition that allows sewer gasses to come into your home.

    Hope that all made sense...

The way the 2" rough in went we ended up with a trap of sorts then a pipe to where the tub trap will be. Not completed yet. Just wondering if a tub trap and a trap made with the rough in piping will cause some sort of problem. The rough in trap was made off a 4x4x2 wye. Would that be adequate...

I have a question on moving a p-trap and plumbing for a tub on a slab. I am going from a drop in tub to a free standing tub and so I need to dig up the slab, replumb the p-trap to the proper location - ~2ft over and then refill the slab. I noticed that there was a hole just off center under my...
