Cannot figure out the bath shower diverter in my new house
I have just moved into a new house and it has a bath shower diverter. There is the shower part at the top, a tap to turn on the water, the bath tap and then a switch that appears to put the plug in and out of the bath. I turn the water on and it comes out of the bath tap and there is nothing that I can see to change it into a shower. It is an old Delta system. Please help!!

The pull-up diverter in the shower spout just suddenly ceased working this morning. There is no change in the flow of water when it is pulled upward. Do I have to replace the whole spout or is there another way. The walls are tiled so I fear having to tear that out if I have to replace the spout. ...
