    Cambridge fireplace
This post is composed of comments rather than a question. We have had a Dimplex Cambridge Electric Fireplace for about four months. Several of the problems we have seem to stem from the fact the blower is inadequate. (1) The electric fireplace is the least efficient of any we have experienced. (2) When the temperature is below 40º, the blower takes from four to six minutes to reach operating speed, either because of inadequate power or poor lubrication. (3) The blower is very noisy.
The unit is designed so that the blower must run constantly. The blower should be wired to come on and go off with the heating elements.
Although the flames are reasonably realistic and the flame motor is quiet, the dimmer reduces the flame color by only about 25-35%. It should reduce it more.
The company support is virtually non-existent. When I contacted the company, I was given the attitude, “There is nothing we can do. Take it back where you got it. We don’t supply replacement parts.” (They did not answer my complaints until after the store’s warranty had expired.) Compare this to a similar situation. We bought another electric fireplace a year or so ago. When we discovered the flame motor was noisy, we notified the proper entity by email. Within 24 hours we received a phone call. After the representative heard the noise over the phone, we received a replacement motor within less than a week with detailed instructions how to install it.
