Ceiling fan/light moved to new room, now goes on by itself!
I've read some previous posts on this site (and other sites) that seem to be related to this... but they all point to a problem with the fan/light. My situation is different, because the fan/light used to be located in one room in my house and worked perfectly fine for years. We then moved it to another room in my house, replacing a different fan/light that worked perfectly fine for years. Ever since we moved it, the light frequently goes on and off by itself. (I think the fan also goes on and off by itself, but what I've noticed most is that the light goes on by itself.) Because everything worked just fine when it was in the previous room, I would think the problem can't be with the unit. And because the previous fan/light in the same room worked just fine, I would think the problem can't be with the wiring. The fan and light work great when I use the control panel, so they are obviously hooked up correctly. Has anyone had any experience with this? It's located in a child's room and so the light going on in the middle of the night is an especially big problem! I've asked a couple of people with electrician training and they can't figure it out. One suggested we may need to rewire the whole thing through the wall again?? Anyway, thank you for any assistance...
